Our Story
Bitcoin 4 Humanity started as an idea in 2017 when we identified that interesting projects using open-source technology with positive social impact were struggling to raise funds, reach a larger audience, and evolve. We created the B4H Awards to recognize outstanding projects.
In 2019, our mission transformed when we met the founders of Bitcoin Beach at LABITCONF in Uruguay. Discovering the transformative potential of Bitcoin Circular Economies changed everything. We realized that sustainable education and adoption of BCEs, combined with Bitcoin's fundamental properties, are the most powerful tools for economic and social development.
Since 2020, we've coordinated free Bitcoin training courses and dedicated ourselves to supporting and promoting Bitcoin Circular Economies and Bitcoin education projects worldwide.
In 2024 we contributed to the launch of our book “Bitcoin Circular Economies” written by our founders, Gabriel Kurman and Ivan Kaleja.
in 2025 we coordinated and grew the global network of projects associated with “La Bitcoineta” decentralized project and created a website to share the “Bitcoineta Manifesto” which helps anyone inspired by the project to build a Bitcoineta and join us on the road and replicate the mission in their land, spreading the word in their communities about Bitcoin.
in 2026 we started the research and interviews that inspired the writing of our 2nd Book about Bitcoin Circular Economies, this time focused on Africa’s Bitcoin Revolution. The book will be announced soon!

The Bitcoin Circular Economies book documents five remarkable communities: El Zonte, El Salvador — where it all started; Bitcoin Lake, Guatemala — bringing hope to Mayan communities; Bitcoin Jungle, Costa Rica — 380+ merchants in a jungle; Praia Bitcoin, Brazil — innovation on a remote beach; and Bitcoin Ekasi, South Africa — Africa's first circular economy.
Each story shows how Bitcoin, combined with community work and education, creates sustainable change. These are not hypothetical theories — they are real communities, real people, real impact.
